Many people say that ‘Good Health is Wealth’. I totally agree with this statement because without good health we are useless, we cannot contribute to the society. How to have good health? Put on your thinking cap and start thinking, are you healthy? Do you have a balanced diet and exercise regularly? Well, here are some pointers of being healthy.
First of all, children need carbohydrates, proteins, fats and vitamins to stay healthy. They need carbohydrates as the main source of energy as it allow us to carry out our activities for the day. Some examples of carbohydrates are rice, noodle, bread and pasta. Besides that, proteins are also important because they repair cell structure, build up new cells and tissues and they also provide strength. Examples of proteins are poultry like chicken, duck or fish, buts and eggs. Young children also need fats to be as fit as a fiddle as fats help to keep their body temperature regulated and vital organs shipshape. Vitamins are also important because they keep us healthy. Toddlers and teenagers need good food to stay alert and active all day long.
Children must stay healthy so that they can do well academically to obtain good grades in school. They will also excel in some subjects that they like. If they are healthy, they will be able to represent school in competitions or tournaments. They can also take up badminton, swimming, basketball or running to stay healthy.
Working adults should cut down on carbohydrates and fats. Taking too much of these can cause obesity or other coronary diseases. To stay healthy, they need to take more vegetables as vegetables are the main source of roughage. Adults like our parents should stay healthy so that they are able to work to generate income for the family. If they are physically sound, they can even take part in social activities. They also oversee and shoulder responsibility to raise their children. Other than that, they can contribute fruitfully to the society by helping voluntarily in charitable organisations. A healthy family also means a happy family. They can also stay healthy physically by going brisk walking or go to the gym for work-out.
Old people should refrain from food which contains high traces of nuts and fats. The best food for them are fish and vegetables. They have to be healthy so that they can live longer and be part of the family and help to look after their grandchildren. They can also have a better social life. Old people can take up Tai-Chi, play chess and slow walking to stay fit.
If the disabled are not able to generate income, then they are actually a burden to the family and society. Their parents have to incur high medical expenses to make sure that the disabled are fit enough to survive. Their parents also have to spend extra time to look after them.
Lastly, good hygiene needs to start from home. We can clean the drain, plant more trees and flowers so that our environment is nice and clean.
